Navy Federal Credit Union Banking Services
The Navy Federal Credit Union provides its services to all members of the U.S Department of Navy and their family members around the world. The Navy Federal Credit Union has its headquarters in Vienna, Virginia and it is governed by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Membership of the Navy Federal Credit Union extends to both serving and retired personnel of the U.S Department of Navy and their immediate families. As of the last quarter of the year 2006 the Navy Federal Credit Union had assets of over $27 billion which mostly comes from the savings of its members.
The Union was established in 1933 with only 7 members but currently has more than 2.8 million members all over the world. It is also the largest known credit union in the world and provides various services to its members. These services include: share savings, checking accounts as well as loans. The members of the Navy Federal Credit Union can also apply for credit cards from the union if they choose to do so.
Savings and Checking Account Services
The Savings and Checking account services provided by the Navy Federal Credit Union include Share Savings, Normal Checking, Money Market Savings, Share Certificates, IRA's as well as ESA's.. The union also provides a number of loans designed to cater to the needs of its members however varied they may be. Some of these loans are auto loans, motorcycle and boat loans . Mortgages are also provided as well and educational loans are also offered so Navy staff can take care of their educational needs and those of their children or any other members of their immediate family.

The Navy Federal Credit Union handles Investment and Insurance services for its members as well. There is a Brokerage Center that allows NFCU members handle their brokerage transactions online. Members can use the service to buy stocks, no-load mutual funds and other types of securities .

One other useful resource the Navy Federal Credit Union also provides is Trust Services. With Trust Services Navy members can benefit from personalized trust and estate planning services. Some of these services include: Tax Savings Strategies, Estate Settlement, Asset Management Services, Revocable Living Trusts, Charitable Giving as well as Life Insurance Trusts.
The Navy Federal Credit Union also helps its members plan for life after the Navy. Services include retirement planning as well as pension plans all designed to provide some form of security in the later years of life when a Navy member can work no more.
